Students graduating with ANSC degrees are recognized across the department, college, and university

The Spring 2023 graduation celebrations marked the end of a rewarding school year and for some the completion of their academic journey at the University of Maryland. Animal and Avian Sciences graduates were recognized at the department, college, and university levels.
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Commencement Ceremony was on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Reckord Armory. ANSC senior Niraj Suresh gave the student commencement address. The University of Maryland’s Commencement Ceremony was on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Maryland Stadium with Journalist Gayle King '76 delivering the commencement address.
Every year, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Alumni Network awards outstanding members of the graduating class. Eliza White was selected as ANSC’s Outstanding Undergraduate Student, and Jarvis Scott was ANSC’s Outstanding Graduate Student. ANSC students Jaanavi Selvaraj and Niraj Suresh were awarded Outstanding Service to AGNR Awards, Selvaraj for academics and Suresh for community/extension work.
Additionally, ANSC presents departmental leadership and academic achievement awards to graduating students. The Spring 2023 ANSC Outstanding Leadership Awards went to: Holly Bland, Emma Kellenberger, Angelina Perez-Lugones, and Jaanavi Selvaraj. The ANSC Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards went to: Rachel Fishkind and Haleigh Gonzalez. Mary Parent and Eliza White were awarded both the ANSC Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards.
